The Milanese region offers a vibrant cultural scene and is a national and international benchmark for cultural production, a sector of the "creative industry" with great growth potential.

With a total of some 8 million tickets sold every year, the Milanese region is well above the national average, especially in the fields of cinema, museums, exhibitions, theatre and concerts.

In order to bring the host of cultural activities and projects organized by private bodies, no profit associations and the local authorities together into a network, the Province of Milan is promoting the creation of integrated cultural systems. Two such systems are currently being set up: one in North Milan (Novecento) and the other in the North West (Mi.N.O.). 

In addition, the province of Milan supports the local cultural offering via the Metropòli network. This consists of twelve cultural centers, which, each year, promote a rich calendar of initiatives in every field.
