All European Union BICs are non-profit organizations set up according to a programme launched in 1984 by the European Commission’s General Direction for Regional Policies and Cohesion (formerly DG XVI). Their aim is to support business innovation and development in Europe’s various local areas by creating services, promoting projects, cooperating with local, national and European institutions and interacting with local economic operators.
