Provincial Territorial Coordination Plan PDF Print E-mail

The Provincial Territorial Coordination Plan (PTCP) is a general planning tool that each Province is obliged to prepare. It defines the entire urban and agricultural layout of the area - taking supra-municipal interests into account - and identifies possible lines of action in compliance with regional programming.

To support the process of adapting the PTCP and corresponding Strategic Environmental Assessment to regional urban planning legislation, the Province of Milan set up a local government forum for participation and consultation, known as the Forum per il governo del territorio metropolitano.

Milano Metropoli cooperates with the provincial Department for the Territory to define and implement the actions proposed by the Forum, such as the general meetings and theme workshops planned from September 2006 to spring 2007.

Via the Forum, the Province of Milan plans to engage not only the institutional players and political groups in the PTCP adaptation process, but also economic and social operators, the Social Economy, the universities and in general metropolitan Milan's so-called civil society. The PTCP adaptation process will, in fact, start from a method of shared and strongly interactive planning that will be based on the contribution of all the various players living and working in the area.
The aim is to involve not only traditional experts, but all "stake holders" in order to foster new approaches to forms of integrated strategic local planning that are sustainable from the ecological, economic, social and institutional points of view.

Milano Metropoli's second contribution to updating the current PTCP will be to make an in-depth analysis of the province's economic system to be included in the framework of sectorial analyses currently being made.

The analytical approach aims to produce a picture of both the economic system and of the current industrial situation in the Province of Milan, and to present a series of scenarios and medium/long-term development trends (2020) for Milan's  economic and territorial system.
