We have gained valuable experience in experimenting and implementing strategies designed to re-develop local areas and give them a new lease of life. Working alongside the local authorities and communities, we help to identify problems and resources, define values, targets and strategies for their future and to create a local system.
With the implementation of the Strategic Plan for North Milan (1999-2001), which involved four important towns in the metropolitan area (Bresso, Cinisello Balsamo, Cologno Monzese and Sesto San Giovanni), Milano Metropoli has pioneered the implementation of common strategic plans involving several municipalities. Strategic planning provides an informal, voluntary way for local communities to work out a shared vision for their future. It is also a process of social participation and interaction via which one or more towns can set and pursue common goals
We take an active part in the key planning processes undertaken in the province of Milan.

In the Strategic Project for the Milanese Urban Region, Città di Città, promoted by the Province of Milan, our Agency, along with the Milan Politecnico, provides important technical and planning support: we make a preliminary assessment and analysis of the projects taking part in the tender, support the promoters of the projects selected by the jury to implement them and participate in developing the pilot projects.
-
In the context of adapting the Territorial Plan for Provincial Coordination (PTCP) - the general plan that defines the overall organization of the Milanese area - we work alongside the Province of Milan to arrange ‘who does what' and to draw up an in-depth study of the local economic system.
-
With the Pact for North Milan, in 2005 we took charge of coordinating the second stage of the North Milan strategic planning process. Seven local councils - Bresso, Cinisello Balsamo, Cologno Monzese, Cormano, Cusano Milanino, Paderno Dugnano and Sesto San Giovanni - were involved in the process and were committed to meeting the new challenges presented by the local re-development schemes.
-
With the Baranzate Strategic Plan,we are helping Baranzate town council - a new administration in the province of Milan - to implement plans for a strategic vision of its own role in the broader area of north-west Milan.
-
Via a research project entitled Special Programme for the development of Integrated Green Systems and Social Housing, we are engaged in defining an innovative urban-territorial project addressed to the Lombard town councils. The idea is to find an organic approach to tackling two vital goals: the enhancement of the countryside (by creating new green areas and agro-environmental infrastructure) and an increase in affordable housing for the underprivileged. This scheme is being developed with the support of Navigli Lombardi Scarl, in partnership with Centro Studi P.I.M. and with the direct involvement of the Lombardy Region (DG Casa e Opere Pubbliche, DG Agricoltura e DG Territorio).
-
Within the context of the Rhodense Strategic Plan (2005) - involving eleven towns in Milan's North West, and promoted by ComunImprese - we experimented with an innovative way of using private resources to fund strategic projects for the economic and territorial development of the area.
