Agreement with Fondazione Banca del Monte Lombardia PDF Print E-mail

The agreement signed in December 2008 between Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lombardia, Province of Milan and Milano Metropoli sees the Fondazione engaged for the first time in a local development process with medium/long-term goals.

According to the terms of this partnership, Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lombardia undertakes to work closely for the next three years with the Province of Milan and with Milano Metropoli to develop at least three projects a year. Such projects are to be identified jointly.

The agreement establishes overall funding to the tune of 2,750,000 euros to develop at least 9 local projects over the next three years, 1,500,000 euros of which will be provided by the Fondazione, 1,100,000 euros by the Province of Milan and the rest by Milano Metropoli, the technical partner charged with preparing the feasibility studies.

The first three feasibility studies concern setting up new local services and identifying functions of  excellence in the context of culture, innovation, creativity and talent:

  • Metrocenter: the project aims to create a permanent forum in which to discuss and exchange ideas and experiences on policies designed to improve the quality of life in the Milanese area. The Metrocenter will be a place in which locally available resources can emerge and find support.
  • New functions for the "Polo di Eccellenza Soderini": the project aims to set up a creative hub, complete with the spaces and services required to support the start-up and consolidation of creative enterprises, a centre for the future of labour and of the up-and-coming professions, a centre "spinner".
  • Casa degli Artisti: the feasibility study envisages renovating Villa Caimi (in the Quarto Oggiaro district of Milan) and the realization of a series of spaces and services devoted to artistic production, to temporary residence linked to making and enjoying art, animation and artistic/cultural projects.

Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lombardia is also working alongside the Province of Milan and Milano Metropoli Development Agency to promote the Bando Expo dei Territori. In view of the forthcoming 2015 Expo, this scheme is involving every part of the province and aims to stimulate the planning skills and agenda setting of local town councils and of the various economic and social players in three different contexts: food; environment and energy; culture, hospitality and tourism.
