Falck Concordia Sud - Sesto San Giovanni

The Falck-Concordia Sud Productive Cluster has 22 SMEs and was the second of the clusters created through the Planning Agreement for the Re-industrialization of Sesto San Giovanni Areas. The cluster was built on part of the vast redundant areas of the Falck Metal Group in Sesto San Giovanni. Situated between viale Italia and viale Edison it covers 33,600 square metres, and is subdivided into lots of from 500 to 5,000 square metres.

The 22 enterprises in the cluster were selected through a public competition in February of 1998 and began occupying the new building in December of 2002. The construction of the cluster was managed by the enterprises themselves, through the forming of the ex-Falck-Concordia Productive Area Cluster Cooperative.

Milano Metropoli supported the Cooperative during all of the operational phases of the project, as well as, the financing tools set aside for the construction of the district, like Regional Law 30 of 1994 and the contribution given by the Labour Ministry as part of its Development Fund (Law 236 of 1993). The enterprises of the Falck-Cocordia Productive Cluster also received foreseen contributions from Law 481 of 1994, for the construction of buildings, infrastructures, and the purchase of new equipment.

Thanks to the development perspectives created by the new cluster, enterprises hired new employees and made important investments. In the building phase, they employed a total of 425 people, of which 107 were newly hired and 30 were ex-Falck employees, unemployed for a long period or laid off.

The total amount of investments attracted by the enterprises only for the buying of the area and the planning and construction of buildings was 22.3 million Euros; investments made for equipment and productive infrastructures is excluded in this figure.
